Thermal Security

Today’s intruder are knowledgeable, well equipped, and have easy access to advanced technology. Weapons of mass destruction can now be delivered with relative ease; using vehicles and people to cause wide spread damage. Now more than ever, it is important to gain the advantage over your threat. With ICx infrared cameras, intruders can no longer use the nighttime as a shield or fog as a blanket. These advanced cameras give the user the ability to see in total darkness and penetrate most weather conditions day or night. While this technology can secure a perimeter it can also help reduce the need for large expensive lights, which can dramatically reduce overall electrical cost.

Although ICx infrared cameras are based on Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) technology developed for the U.S. Military, they vault ahead of conventional FLIR capabilities through the innovative use of a new proprietary process called Vision Sense technology. Vision Sense combines video feeds from both a visible light (CCD) camera and an Infrared camera. This multiple video capability provides the user immediate access to visual data from two separate wavelengths.   Vision Sense  offers user-controlled, customized real-time mixing and merging of the two visual sources. This generates the ability to penetrate glare, as well as see through windows, glass or water. These elemental challenges are highly problematic for conventional FLIR cameras

ICx infrared cameras boast the highest ease of integration on the market today. Mounting and connecting is as simple as installing four screws and plugging in one cable.  Out of the box, it is ready to plug into existing networks, using multiple protocols including Pelco D, TASS and many others.  In addition to the turnkey protocol offerings, our engineering department offers custom protocol integration services.

Thermal imaging detects the heat that all objects emit so thermal imaging cameras do not need any visible light to produce an image. They can “see” objects in total darkness and through smoke, haze and most types of fog and are very effective for long distances, making them particularly useful in the security industry where the ability to clearly detect an intruder at a long range under extremely adverse lighting is vital.

Thermal imaging is emerging as a regular addition to integrated security packages, including video motion detection, access control systems and specialized software, and in specific applications where standard or other specialized technology has been unable to perform.

DII is the only company that offers a unique feature known as image overlay. Image overlay is a process that combines the images from a thermal camera and a CCD camera and displays it on a monitor.  The user can then adjust the image to 100 percent thermal, 100 percent CCD or any percentage between the two. Using the image overlay feature, you can examine the detail on license plates or the words and logos on security badges while still monitoring infrared wavelength.

You can identify colors.  One of the greatest benefits of image overlay is the ability to see through glass, which thermal cannot penetrate.  This allows an operator to detect a person inside a vehicle or a building. Image overlay allows maximum flexibility for detection and recognition in any application.
